Default Black rubbery mesh coming from a/c vents?

About a week and a half ago, my a/c vents blew a little black crap at me, just coming from the far left vent. This morning, my front seats, center console, and I got a shower or this stuff, in bigger chunks. It looks like a black rubber mesh/honeycomb type thing, and there are even some quarter-sized and bigger pieces stuck in the vents. Any ideas on what this could be?

That is part of the blend doors.

Blend doors? What are those, what do they do, and what do I do to fix them?

They are the doors inside the HVAC case that direct the air.

actually it is something that goes over your evaporator core, suppose to keep water from spewing out of your vents when you are running the ac. its just disinegrating and falling apart. i dont believe it is your blend door. those are plastic.

If this is the case, how do I fix it?

You have two options. You can not worry about and leave it alone. (It's not going to hurt anything)

OR

You can pull the entire dash out, remove the HVAC box, heater core and AC Condensor (Might as well change both of those out while you're in there) and replace the material.

Personally, I wouldn't go through all of that effort for that but it's up to you.

It'll look something like this:
