skinny tires for more of a highway driving say you drive 75 % on the pavement.wider tires if your off road 75% of the time during the winter. so less wide more highway more wide less highway. im from up state ny 25 min from canada you buy tires for the seasons up here.

The best tire for deep snow is a 12.5 or wider mud terrain aired down to 15 PSI, 10 PSI if you have beadlocks or just a really good bead seal.....the second half the equation is to use 4HI instead of 4LO as much as you can it keeps you from digging in when you need to gas it hard. So, it's all about floatation. There is no "best" tire for compact snow and ice. The only thing keeping you going in that stuff is your own common sense...I.E. only going as fast as the conditions allow....and not thinking that your 4WD makes you invincable.

I've been through two long Wyoming winters with all types of all terrain tires on my work truck and I get so much more traction with the siped TSL's on Jeep.

wouldnt having it in 4HI cause more wheel spin, in turn digging you down faster?
