Default Bendix ABS Removed but BRAKE light on

Ok I've searched for days trying to sort this out but I haven't run across any post that details what exactly to do with the lights on the dash after removing the ABS system. The PO removed the ABS unit and replaced with a 94 booster but never corrected the BRAKE light on the dash. The ABS light isn't on because the PO removed the actual bulb.

So my question is, how can I get the BRAKE light to work correctly, I don't want to just disable it incase there is a problem with the brake system.

Don't know if this helps, this is my 01 XJ, I swapped out the D3.0/D35 that had the ABS for earlier year HPD30/8.25 that didn't have the ABS. my brake light came on right after & I just pulled a few fuses/relays.

Post the vehicle details, helps people figure out what you need. Year, trim, engine and transmission.

I agree, I'm not concerned about the ABS light being out, I just want to fix the BRAKE indicator light.

Thanks, I'll check the fuse box and see if the abs fuses are pulled already.

I think the red "brake" does three things. Let's you know if the E-brake is on, alerts you to low fluid, and alerts you if the proportioning valve has been tripped.

That said It may not be independent of the ABS computer....May, (or may not) be a real booger isolating how to bring that function back. I can see/feel if I blew a line or seal and brake fluid is all over. I check my reservoir, so don't need that. I about never loan out my Jeep, so I'm not worried about someone missing that the E-Brake is on.

My .02, ignore it and check your fluid when you check your oil.

Long rambling thread here. In the end I got it and my Bendix 9 works supper! > https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/ben...ee-abs-202633/
