Belt squeeks!
Yet another PS pump failed to go beyond 2yrs on a AutoZone lifetime warranty.
After finishing the belt started squealing or more so chirping.
Yes it was tightened properly.
The chirping was prominent when throttle was steady state or coasting. during acceleration the noise stopped.
I marked the belt direction and reinstalled it the other direction.
Problem solved..... At least for now

Welcome to the forum!.. I had this "canned". A new belt gave me fits! I don't like mine any tighter than it needs to be. The alternator seems to be what will slip first on my 90;
Soaping Belt
Tight, tighter, tightest the darn new belt would still chirp.
Finally in desperation I went out there with a bottle of Dawn dish soap and the garden hose. Idling, I got it wet, then squirt soap on both sides, rinsed some, and soaped a little more. Let it idle a minute all soapy. To end, I ran the hose slow on it running for a couple minutes. Bingo! That solved it. There was some sort of coating on the new belt? Idk.
You should fill out your info. (there are differences between an 87 4 banger and an 01, 4.0!)
