Hi guys,
I got two problems I need help with. They are small, but annoying.
First one:
Sometimes when I start my truck or turn on the AC the belt starts screaming. Belt doesn't seem to be to tight or to loose.
Second one:
This happens once in a while, but when I turn my steering wheel it sounds like something is rubbing. Do I need to grease a joint somewhere by any chance? Original owner didn't have the trucks Manual.
THANKS

#1 try tightening your belt up.....they seem to like to be really tight....almost feels like it's way too tight when you've got it right.
#2 if it's coming from inside check under the wheel down the column and make sure all the plastic is in place and if I'm not mistaken there is a rubber piece under there too, just make sure that's in place and not rubbing

Are you sure its the belt and not your a/c commporessor ,mine would squeal on start up at times ,and would really squeal when I would turn a/c on.All I can say on the steering is to follow the colum while someone turns it and look for a problem not really enough info on it to really try and figure out .g/l

seems to be a common problem on xj's with the screeching. mine usually goes away once i get out of the driveway and go a few blocks, i've used belt dressing, put a new belt in, it screeches either way, i just say "its a jeep thing"

seriously though, belt tension is the issue more often than not, I had the same issue, kind of an indicator the belt is loose, and as far as belt dressing goes that stuff is for v belts I do believe not serpintine belts
