Default belt replacement help

okay so ive had some nasty squeals the last few miles. got the rig in the driveway and inspected it, belt is all chewed up and idler pulley is flopping around.

ive loosened the bolts on the powersteering pump to get the belt to loosen but the pump hasnt budged one bit. even tried to pry it off.

anybody have some ideas?

There is an adjusting screw on the pump bracket that will allow slack in the belt. Find that screw and your progress will continue.

the adjustment screw is as loose as it can go but there is no slack, almost as if the pump is stuck in place.

lol....ran into this the first time I had to replace MY belt!.....you have to loosen the bolts that allow it to pivot toward the fan. I think that Jerm is right with that one, and I think there is another one on the back side of the pump bracket....loosen those up and you should find lots of movement for the belt to slide off.....hope this helps...

If you have a pulley right below the power steering pump then you have to loosen the bolt in the middle of that pulley and it will give you all the play you need
