I used a 3/8 Gear wrench. I removed the intakes first for room. I then hooked to hoist. Took out the motor mounts/ Lower the engine a little. Had room for the 3/8 gearwrench and a cheater pipe. No issues coming out or going back in.
I guess if your just pulling only the tranny this may or may not work as you wouldn't want to remove the intakes. I'm sure this way would work with intakes on but it was easy as pie with them off.
