Default Bedliner - What is the best for less?

Alright, going to spray the lower section of my doors and rear bumper. Obviously going to prep right with sanding and such.

Need to know what is the best product out there to use and still not break the bank.

I checked out the raptor bedliner and it looks very good, but it is a $100! The duplicolor spray on stuff looks alright, but what about quality? How long will it last?

How much is Herculiner? I am sure that should last a while, but is it pricey?

Are there any other products out there that you guys have had experience with and can testify for the quality and durability?

i used the duplicolor on mine to do the lower doors and i was also worried about how it would turn out but it turned out great and didnt break the bank. just do a test spray on something other than ur truck so u can get used to the consistency or else u could end up with blotchy spots and runs. also, make sure the prep is done very very well because if not it wont turn out like u want it too and that stuff is hard to get off.

and as to ur herculiner question.. i dont know how pricey it is but i've heard that its very unforgiving to flesh so if ur plannin to do ur rockers i dont think ur gunna want it there just in case ur leg brushes it gettin in or out of ur truck.

hope that helps.

How long has yours held up? Can you touch up if needed? Does it chip? Thanks for your input!

i've had mine on for about 3 months now with no chipping. and yes you can touch it up but instead of doing a spot touch up ur best bet is to just apply another thin layer to the entire area. and i cant stress enough make sure it is prepped right... if not it'll chip in a matter of days.

Talk to me about your prep? I plan on sanding to rough it up. I only have very minimal surface rust which will be sanded down to bare metal. I will then spray some paint prep acid stuff on the bare metal. Do I need to prime it then or will this bedliner spray over that?

I used herculiner on my cargo area and its awesome! I dont think it was too pricey, it was all they had at autozone ha ha. It's worked great for me so far and I've thrown rotors, calipers, dogs, cardboard boxes, people, brake fluid, and just about anything else you can imagine at it and nothing has even scratched it. I put on a bunch of layers and I'm sure the more you do the stronger it will be. The herculiner is a roll on type, I've never tried the spray kind, but it might be something to think about if you want to paint it on with a roller or spray? You could definitely do touch ups with the herculiner too.

Well I sprayed my rear bumper with the duplicolor wal-mart rattle can bedliner. Still looks great about 8 months and one Chicago winter later. Good stuff- has a nice texture. I also have Herculiner in the bed of my 2010 Dodge Ram- that stuff is thick, I would not do exterior body panels in it, as I do not think my doors would close any more...

For floorboards N such the Herc is a better product, but for ease of application and price my vote goes to the duplicolor. I will be doing my flares and rockers in the duplicolor once they are done (as well as about 50% of the exterior of my YJ).

Good point about closing doors since I will be doing the underside of the door along with the door sill. I will probably go with the duplicolor stuff. I bet the others are stronger, but if you can respray areas then this may be easier.
