I'm trying to prevent overheating too since it's getting to about 90+ degrees over here. My XJ's electric fan kicked on just from it sitting in the driveway idleing for 10 minutes .

Tomorrow I'm gonna get some more coolant and some stop leak. I think I may have to replace my radiator soon because I've been having a very small coolant drip (it drips like once every 3 weeks).

I bet if you switch your stock radiator out for a larger aftermarket radiator, you'll see a huge improvement!

Wire an electric fan to a manual switch.. I had huge overheating problems so I upgraded to a three core radiator, open system and a manual electric fan switch from the solenoid that I can turn on and off .. I just towed a 3500 pound boat up a mountain in with strong head winds In 90 degree weather and never went above 215!!

I thought of one more mod you can do. Try wiring your electric fan straight to a switch instead of having it electronically controlled by the PCM. You could even have your electric fans wired to the ignition so that they are on whenever the engine is running (which would be my personal preferance).

You're probably hearing the blower motor.
So yeah, rewire your electric fan so it can either be controlled by the ignition or controlled by a toggle switch.

If the E fan does not come on when the temp gets high or the AC is turned on there's something wrong.
To test the fan clutch you try to spin the fan by hand after the engine is hot and it should be fairly hard to spin compared to when it's cold. Engine off of course!!!

Efan should be on when a/c compressor is engaged or when coolant reaches 218F. Time for some maintenance, not switches and band-aids.

You might have a bad fan or there could be a short in the wiring someplace.

That's very possible. Pull it out of the fuse block and test it with a DMM.
