Hi, I am new here, have my Cherokee Chief since 1995!


Which is the original CCA and Ah specs for this engines cherokee? I had a 90Ah one, but the garage replaced it for a 72Ah.

Now it died (one year standing). I had a nice deal for a new 65Ah (22 month warranty), tested it, starts fine. But could get a 85Ah for a little more (only 3 months warranty, and a 2 hour drive).

Thing is, on AC Delco battery specs, they mention a 58Ah to be suitable... so maybe It would suit... (S56318 in http://www.acdelco.com.au/PDFs/ApplicationsGuide_Batteries.pdf)

Cannot find my cherokee repair and mantainance guide, probably mentions it.

What does the manual, and the pros have to say?

Glad to see someone else with a 1984 Cherokee. I have two, a Cherokee Chief with the AMC 2.5 4 Banger AX5 5 speed NP207 Dana 30/Dana 35 3.55 the other is a Pioneer with the GM 2.8V6 ChryCryCrysler 904 3 Speed auto NP228 Dana 30/Dana 35 with 3.73 with over 253,000 original miles!

 

LOL I am keeping mine only untill the treasure tries to claim it. I owe more tax then the car is worth. Portuguese government is unreal, charging yearly tax.

Well, this Cherokee Chief must be one of the first released models, sold in Austria or Swizerland in 84. Got it in 95, was a nice companion. Runs on LPG or could not support the petrol.

Whats the spec on your batery?

 

I guess I am settling for this 580Amp CCA and 65Ah storage , canīt be that bad and might cover the minimal requirements. At least I have a 22 months warranty.
