Default Bastard pack, but no/minimal lift question...

Alright, so my factory springs are pretty much toast, they're slightly inverted as my Jeep sits now. I can't afford to buy new springs, even if I could I wouldn't because I don't really want anymore lift right now. My pack only has 4 leafs in it and I believe I've read on here that most have 5. A friend of mine has a great set of leafs off his XJ. They've got about 80k on them. I probably won't just directly replace them because knowing my luck, the lift shackles will just prematurely wear them out too.

So, question being... if I did a bastard pack with my main leaf, the main leaf off his pack (with eyelets cut off) and the two bottom leafs, would it bring my XJ's saggy rear back to life?

might as well, but here's what i would do. i'd use all the newer leafs, and use your older packs main leaf with the eye cut off as one extra leaf.

Yeah, I should have mentioned that I'd use more of the newer leafs. I don't want much lift though, because I can't afford to lift the front anymore right now either. So all the newer leafs with my main leaf? Or two main leafs and 2 bottom leafs?

i've done it a few times on yj's, i always keep the leafs all in tact and in order, and just slip one main leaf in under the main leaf on the jeep. requires a longer centering pin. thats what i would do. i've never known anyone to change leafs like you're saying, maybe it works, but i would keep the leafs the way they were made, and then just add one since i'm assuming you have shackles or something back there.

this doesn't act like an add a leaf you buy cuz its not super stiff. so it just acts against axle rap and sag.

I just don't want it to give my XJ a forward rake. My shackles are Teraflex BB greaseables. When I first installed the lift they were vertical, now they're at a slight angle to the rear. I'm aware that it's a better angle, but I just don't want my leafs to give enough to give me axle wrap. I'm not too worried about ride quality, as long as it stays safe.

adding any leafs to your spring pack is probably gonna give you at least 2" of lift OVER STOCK

go to your local autozone and get a short helper spring kit. had I planned to stay at stock height this is what I was planning on doing to my saggy leafs. I have read others doing this I think on NAXJA and it basically brought the 1" sagging rear end up to just a bit higher than level and looked really good, didnt make the ride overly stiff and if I recall right I think he said his ride actually improved a bit because it brought the spring rate back to to where it was supposed to be.

the helper spring kits are nice because the short one doesnt even require the u-bolts to be removed to install it. it reduces sway in the rear and they oly cost about 25 bux. well worth the money to bring that saggy azz back up to where it is supposed to be.
