Bad vibrations going over multiple bumps
Whenever my Cherokee goes over a series of multiple potholes on the highway, it develops a NASTY vibration that won't stop until I pull off the highway and stop my jeep.
This only happens on a certain stretch of road around Washington D.C.
Is this normal? Just a bad stretch of road? Or is there something wrong with my Jeep?

Yes something's wrong with it you need to check out the entire front end for any worn out items. Like tie rod ends, ball joints just for 2 there are a lot of ware items there shocks included.
If your unsure how to check all of these items then take it to a shop and have them look at it and give you and estimate to repair it. Get a detailed list showing all parts needed that are worn. One thing for certain you do need an alignment but not until everything is repaired.
It is unsafe to drive the way it is now and really should be parked till repaired as it could harm you or someone else.

Check out threads regarding "death wobble". Fun isn't it?
Like Fred wrote basically anything in the front end can cause it. Lifted Jeeps are more prone to that issue. If you're experiencing this on a stock XJ something is very badly worn.

It was the death wobble salad. It's scary the first time it happens to you.
I'm gona get it checked out. What would most likely cause the "death wobble"?
