Alright guys-
long story short, water pump seized and ran the jeep hot for 30 miles. leeking pretty bad and i couldn't figure it out. water pump replacement, gasket replacement, therm, hose, etc. took it in and was just told the block might be cracked since i ran it hot.
question is, how hard/easy is it to fix the crack i caused in my block where the water pump meets the block?
i have a buddy who can weld anything... is it worth trying?
was told to get some sealing fluid for it but thats a very temp fix.
any suggestions on the welding or how to best handle this would be appreciated.
thanks

Get it pressure tested first. Might have a crack is not "does have a crack". Know for sure before you try to fix an issue you may not have. If it is cracked, I would personally just junk it and buy a new engine. I guess repair depends on the severity of the crack.

You can't really weld cast iron and expect it to be reliable. Just buy a reman long block or get a boneyard engine.
