would a bad vacuum line cause my heat and AC not to blow at full strength, and could the same problem also make it hard to start. the tarter is good and so is the alternator. its just kinda slow starting and the heat and AC only blow if i have the selector on the highest setting. How would i finf out whats causing this without paying someone else to do it for me? any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

your blower selector problem is because of a bad resistor. there are threads on this topic. i'm about to fix mine soon. remember when doing any electrical work to crimp it good and use heat shrink or scotch 33 tape.

Is this on your 2000 XJ?
Check out some of the links here ......

I removed what I wrote originally because it may not have been for the 2000 model year.

I posted a Google Search link for " 2000 XJ fan resistor " instead.

got me a blower motor resistor from advance autoparts, with a military discount it was 38 bucks...going to install this weekend, when i do air filter and clean the throttle body! might have to ge tthe vacuum lines checked for the slow start issue.

changed my blower motor reistor saturday. other than it being a little cold out, was a bout a 20 min. process. really not bad, and my blower now works on all settings! still not as hot as i think the heat should be, but i shall save that for another day.
