Bad Engine Noise

Hate that for you. I was in the same boat. When i bought my '96 i just thought i had a bad exhaust manifold. It had cracked and been welded. The engine was making a "ticking" noise but it ran great and had good oil pressure. Pulled the dipstick the oil looked good. No problem i said! Easy fix! I drove it two days n all hell broke loose! The "ticking" got REAL bad! That was 4 months ago- still workin on the rebuild. Its gettin a lil expensive! I may suggest a junkyard motor if you need a quick replacement. I wanted to rebuild mine with new parts because i plan on taking long trips with my XJ.
Ya, I am going with a re manufactured engine probably with a 4.2l crank, you know what I mean. I am going to talk with an engine rebuild place today and try to go down there Saturday. I do not want a used engine that will break another piston skirt. I want to take long hauls and go camping and the like. NOT worry about every little tick that I hear.

my jeep is doing the samething but when cold start it clatters then stops after a second and as the engine gets hotter my oil pressure drops alot, to me it seems like when the engine is cold and the oil pressures good theres no noise but when it gets hotter the oil pressure drops and the noise gets worse as pressure gets lower. what do you guys think it could be?
i also replaced the oil pump and tried oil stablizer and niether of those seemed to help the noise or the pressure problem i also have 220,xxx on the motor
