oh and i noticed the pinion yolk is shot from the u-joint caps spinning(i think the hold down caps got bent from knocking the driveshaft off one too many times) i have a 97' 8.25 rear what years can i pull a junkyard yolk from?

if anyone would like me to get a specific picture just let me know
use the angle finder on the back of the axle use two of the cover plate bolts o set it against

That is what I have been saying. Do this instead of just throwing shims at it.

yea, if the angle is too high can you put the shims in backwards or is somthing most likely broken?

sound to me like you had a bad ds angle to start with now you have a bad yok that needs to be replaced

yes you can revers the shims if that gives you the right angle on the pinion

Use the cap of the u-joint to check pinion angle as shown in the stu-olsen link. I couldn't trust the cover bolts because sometimes they aren't exactly even. It would be better to take off the cover and put it on the mating surface of the axle.

I had a vibrating prob and converted my 231 t-case to a stationary yoke to this custom made drive shaft and now no more vibrations
