just put the driveshaft in place and it looks like the pinion angle is too far up. it did have 4degree shims in it which would make it even higher. i bought a cheap angle finder tool and it says the driveshaft is atound 11-12degrees but there isnt much of a flat area on the pinion part to get a real accurate reading, i got somthing between 15-20degrees. and with the old wedges it would be higher. i dont know if somthing could of shifted the whole axel? arent people usually having problems with too low of a pinion angle? should i put the wedge in backwards? ill try to get some pics up, cant do it on this computer.
oh and i noticed the pinion yolk is shot from the u-joint caps spinning(i think the hold down caps got bent from knocking the driveshaft off one too many times)
i have a 97' 8.25 rear what years can i pull a junkyard yolk from?
if anyone would like me to get a specific picture just let me know

sound to me like you had a bad ds angle to start with now you have a bad yok that needs to be replaced
yes you can revers the shims if that gives you the right angle on the pinion
Use the cap of the u-joint to check pinion angle as shown in the stu-olsen link. I couldn't trust the cover bolts because sometimes they aren't exactly even. It would be better to take off the cover and put it on the mating surface of the axle.
