i find it hard to believe you have rings shot in 1 cylinder.......not impossible just not common.. my bet is you have a valve issue or cracked cylinder head...why not remove it and look around?
my 93 country had the same problem.. I had low compression in #1 cyl, 50 psi.. all the rest were around 120 psi.. I drove the jeep about 350 miles away and got back and the thing is runnin way better.. my jeep was idleing poorly and stumbling and just had a very large power loss.. I think the long drive cleared up some of my sticky and carboned up vales... now my compression is good in all cyl... and she runs as good as my 00 xj...
