Backfiring through my throttle body on warm up? help me please!!
Okay so here it goes... I have a 98 xj and it backfires and loses power then gains it if i mash the pedal but also backfires until its up to temperature! And it did it once before then stopped for a long time but just recently started to do it again... I have heard and read u bunch of different theories but I wanna see what everyone here has to say before I start digging in on Saturday so please help me out its driving me insane thanks a million!!!

My 97 has this same problem, I've run scanner after scanner on this issue, the only thing I can come up with is the 02 sensor wiring. Haven't had a chance to trace the wires back and look for a break, but my suspect is a faulty ground somewhere in there.....

Sounds like you are running WAY too RICH, I would say O2 sensor, let us know if you figure it out. Good Luck.
