i have a d44 for sale

as for the 8.8 you need this: http://www.csloffroad.com/88drivefla...anaspicer.aspx and maybe a shorter driveshaft since the pinion sticks out further than a D35

If you want to survive while wheeling with your current setup on the cheap get A.) A D44 rear axle from an 87 XJ or B.) A Chrysler 8.25 rear axle out of 97 or newer XJ. You can get the 8.25 from any 91 or newer XJ but, the 29 spline axle version in the 97 and newer XJs is a little more stout...and with those 35" tires you will need all the stout you can get. Either of these axles will bolt right into your XJ and if you get the axle out of an XJ with the same type of tranny (I.E. auto/manual) as yours the gears should even match. I guarantee you this, though, With a manual tranny you most likely have 3.07 axle gears and 3.55s if you have an auto. If your XJ has the 4.0 straight six it and you will be most happy with 4.88s stuffed into those axles as soon as you can afford it.

Hey thanks for the info, the 8.25 is probably what i'll end up getting, easy and cheap. So the 8.25 will be able to stand up to some abuse from crawling and all that too?

It will put up with a lot of abuse....I have a 29 spline one and ill never break it even when i upgrade to 33's.....I know a guy running 36" tsl's on a 27 spline 8.25 and he wheels the **** out of it, and guess what, hasn't broke yet....A 29 spline chry is the way to go though, and its a simple, cheap swap....everything bolts right up, but the snout on it is 1" longer than the d35 so watch that but youll probably never break it, jeeps are just too light and dont put out enough power to really break it with 35's

The 29 spline 8.25 was the best axle put on the Cherokee for rocks because of the larger stronger axle tubes and pinion gear and bearings.
