not sure of the measurements on those axles or how they would hold up off road
they had an aluminum center

after some checking i also found that they dont use standard D44 components they are set up more like the D44 rear diff used in the dodge viper with IRS D44 setup

dont have alot of time to keep researching it but ive not seen any info to support this swap or how well it would hold up

might want to check also to see how expensive parts will be if it doesnt use a standard D44 setup
these where used in the 96-98 ZJ's and 99-04 WJ's with a V8

It'll work but its only marginally better than a D30 as far as strength goes. I'd stick with the D30 until you find a better D44.

Front axle in a ZJ is a LP dana 30 not a 44. They only came with a 44 in the rear and it's actually a 44a which is c-cliped and has an aluminum housing. The only jeeps with a front 44 that will swap into a XJ without a ton of mod were Rubicons.

and only certain years of rubis were "true" d44s

And those aren't a bolt in for an XJ.

Mounts are different and aren't in the same location, correct?

eLockers would be nice, though.

Correct and they are wider as well. Also a different bolt pattern.
