I replaced my clutch not too long ago and recently my throw out bearing shat the bed. I wasn't sure what the problem was because it was making a metal on metal grinding and wouldnt shift. So I left the trail and had to power shift it the whole way home. I went to move it after driving by starting it in reverse. Now its in reverse but the shifter is in neutral. You can kind of feel the shift pattern but will not go into any gear at all. When I took the tranny out and removed the shifter nothing seemed bent or broken but was still doing the same thing.

Shifter in neutral but stuck in reverse. Could it be the synco's are shot now? I'm really at a stand still with it because I'm not sure what it is.

 

Would it be a bad idea to reconnect the shifter out of my jeep and try shifting?
