I was ready to get the trans rebuilt, but you know what fixed it? Putting in an extra quart of trans fluid, a suggestion by a fellow member. This may or may not be your solution but just wanted to make sure it was in the mix.
So are you suggesting to add a quart even if I have proper fluid levels, or just to check and make sure my fluid has the correct level?

Add a 1/2-1 Quart on top of what you've already got there. I had just done my solenoids so I knew my fluid level was on point that's why I never considered it. Apparently the theory is on higher mileage transmissions the bands become loose and adding more trans fluid can help. I have done this on a couple of Trans, including AW4, especially after work has been done on them they will have symptoms, maybe fluid is aerated

anyway I keep level slightly over the max..if it fixes things, great, if not really easy to let out via drain plug

try 1/2 Q 1st
