AW4 lockup question.

AW4 lockup question.
2000 4.0 aw4. If my tc is not locking up will I get a cel? Im not sure if my tranny is going into lockup but I have no lights in the dash and a scanner reads no codes. I can see it go into 4th from the rpm drop but I dont see any small drop like its gone into lockup. Would no lockup cause a cel?
