aw4 to ax15 swap questions!!!
i have a 96 cherokee sport with a motor and trans that is high miles aw4 . got a friend with a 93 jeep that got smashed by a falling tree. i got him to sell it to me for cheap. i wanna swap his motor trans and tcase to mine. his motor has barley 100,000 miles on the motor and a everything has that many miles as well BUT his is a ax15 so ill be going from auto to manual. pretty much taking everything out from mine and putting his all in mine. only thing im worried about is the wiring. i understand you need a clutch pedal and all that cylinder stuff but where will i hit a wall. i need to expec the unexpected. is his internal or external all that stuff. if anyone can help me with there knowledge thatd be awesome!
thanks

I think 93 was the last year for internal slave cylinders. They suck. I've done it twice in one year. Your best bet before getting it all in is to get, a new clutch (optional but safe), machine the flywheel, and buy new master cyl, slave cyl, new clutch line, obviously new dot 3 or4 fluid. Make sure everything is clean! My old clutch line was almost burned right through cause it runs down pretty close to the exhaust manifold. I switched the old line out with adapters for -4 flare fittings, to -4 an with Earls stainless braided high pressure line.(4 foot).
Refill tranny with Pennzoil synchromesh, do the t-case seals and fluid. T case linkage may be tricky, along with crossmember. I don't know about the input shaft diameter...maybe different.
That's just the beginning...This will not be easy...
Good luck.
