Default Auto Transmission help needed.

Hello there,

I am new to this which would probably explian why I put this in the wrong forum to start with, so apologies if this has breached any rules!!>

I have a 1998 4 litre auto which has over the last couple of days started to stick in 2nd gear. It also is making a rattlying noise in reverse when the break is on.

Have checked the fluid and level is ok, dont smell burnt or look off colour.

Has anyone had this on their's and is there any other likehood other than the gearbox being knackered.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Ill start off by saying
Hi and welcome to CF from Tj... I assume you are talking about an auto trans? that could be a problem with the TPS (throttle position sensor) did you by any chance get under the hood wet somehow? if so it may need to dry out if not then it could be almost anything. The rattling could be the flex plate being cracked...Tj
