How do Aussie lockers work?Do they stay engaged all the time or do they disengage while regular driving around curves?

Aussie Lockers are fully locked while driving in a straight line. Anytime you go around a corner, they automatically unlock and allow differentiation in your wheel speed preventing any tire skid while cornering. They then automatically lock back up again once the vehicle returns to straight forward driving.

The Power Trax, Lock Rite, Detroit Easy Locker and Aussie Lockers are all what are called "lunch box" lockers, same basic design. However the Aussies are about $100 bucks cheaper than any of the others for XJ axles.

1.) They work just as good off road.
2.) They have very good on road manners.
3.) They have no air compressor or air lines that can break.
4.) They are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY less expensive to buy.
5.) They are way easier to install.

Piece of cake. Short version is this: Just gain access to your diff. Remove OEM spider gears and side gears and put the "lunch box" locker in their place. If you have stock gears, I believe this can be done without even removing the carrier. The trick is if you'll be able to remove your pinion shaft without removing the ring gear or not. As I said, I believe with stock (thinner) ring gear this can be done without removing the ring gear from the carrier. If, like me, you have after market lower gears that doggon ring gear has to come off to get the pinion shaft out. So, I had to completely remove the carrier. That really doesn't even make all that harder to do.

There are many write ups online about installing Aussie lockers in Dana axles. Just google search "Aussie Locker install D30, D35, D44 or 8.25". You'll find a bunch and with good pics. All that I found were either installed in XJ or YJ.

No worries, man. I just love how those lockers work so much. I can't say enough good things about them. I truly recommend them to anybody. I had Lock Rites in my Toy truck and the Aussies are waaaaaaay better, much quieter and less jerky on the road and just as good and tuff off road.

actually to my understand these style lockers are torque driven so if you are on the gas through a turn they are going to remain locked. If you coast through a turn it unlocks and rachets. Correct me if im wrong but just trying to help
