the gauge sender is the one off the water outlet up top, correct? again, fairly new to daily driving this stuff (i have an 87 mj i use pretty much for dump runs, but that has had the 4.0 ripped out and a vr6 stuffed in (ducks and runs)).

i would love to daily the mj, but it's in the midst of MASSIVE bodywork right now (floors, cab corners, bed repair) and isn't together enough to put my kid in.

will report later tonight and see if she runs and doesn't overheat.
Well I have a 99 and the temp sensor for the gauge and computer is right on top of the t-stat housing... I think it might be the same...

Pretty normal for a 4L. my buddy sucked in water THREE times(small amounts but enough to stop running), packed the cat with mud, drive for 30 000km on a single oil change, and beat on the thing like he was trying to kill it. It still ran perfect after all that when he sold it... I'm a Jeep guy and always will be but that made even me speechless

used my day off wisely.

xj is back in action, the coolant temp sensor i replaced was the one for the ecu, but at least i have fans now. will have the correct one tomorrow.

the end tank in the used radiator cracked from heat, but no worries, i will have a new one thursday (thanks dad!). in the meantime, i jb'ed it, it's holding much better and is barely leaking. may have to add a quart a week if that.

thermostat install went well, got my 3 gallons of fluid in, and am definitely not overheating.

next step is replacing the rear wheel cylinders, brake fluid isn't cheap when i burn through a quart every couple days.

mj got its cab corners tacked on, i will be finishing that thursday. then it's paint time.

also went wheelin' with the pops, what fun. he's got a 91 'woody.
