Anyone had this problem

A guy in are club has a 99xj with a 4.0 and he has been having some odd problems, here's his post.

When i am in gear and holding the break like at a red light my motor idles odd it wonts to rev it self up also when i am driving and i get about 1600 1800 rpms some times it wonts to backfire threw the intake or lug down. When i am above or below 1800 it runs like a top its been like this sence i got it. 1- he needs to learn english so i can figure what hes saying

2- its either a TPS or IAC thats bad

I was thinking plugged cat converter... Have seen a s-10 do that when the cat plugs up.

Basically it's building to much back pressure..

Just what I'd start by replacing...
