Default Anyone done this?

Has anyone mounted a puller fan in front of the radiator, opposite the mechanical fan? I want to keep my mechanical fan, and even want to upgrade it's blade design, but I also like the quick backup cooling ability of an electric fan. So I was thinking to mount a puller in front of the mech fan but on the other side of the rad. Plus I figure it would be good for air conditioning.

Also, does anyone know what size the mechanical fan is in a '91 XJ? I want to upgrade it, but I dont know any of its dimentions.

IMHO, it won't increase air flow and will actually cause more problems. I have seen mods where the belt driven fan was replaced by an electric. Not sure what to think about that. Seems to me if there was a sure fire better setup than the stock one someone would be selling it.

My buddy has a '78 full size Cherokee w/360 CID engine. We replaced the mechanical fan with a 2600 CFM electric fan and a pusher fan. The radiator is a 3 row aluminum radiator. With the mechanical fan she wanted to heat up at times and with the new setup it actually wants to run too cool. we had to adjust the fan temp control to have it run a little warmer to reach the operating temperature of the t-stat!
