Default any year XJ have more headroom?

Hi, have decided on buying an XJ when one comes along, sat in one today and was really dissapointed how little headroom there is.

Any year XJ taller or have more headroom? I found it difficult to get in and out of, I'm only 5'10 but a big guy.

Anyone had this problem and done any mods to improve access/lower seat?

Cheers.

PS In NZ the XJ's are limited to about 1990 to 1997, then we have the ZJ, which from what I read is unreliable compared to the earlier XJ..BUT...does the ZJ have more headroom?

All XJs had the same bodywork but some seats my have changed slightly the headroom height. But I suspect the difference would be less than 1". You may have to consider custom seats to get the headroom you desire.

The only alternative is to remove the headliner and coat the metal with sound deadening material, but if you want to keep it nice looking, that won't do.

My current '91 has the regular manual seats and is only adjustable forward and back and rear lean. My old '92 had the electric seats and would also adjust up and down. You might look for some electric seats, that might help.

Look for a 2 door if you can, they all have the same head room but the 2door does have a bigger door/area that many bigger guys have said help make it easier. Just a thought

I'm 6 ft 4 and have no issues in my XJ 4 door.
But I'm not a big dude However, if anything , its not so much the headroom playing up, its the lack of space to move the seat back in mine...

I'm 6'6 and every now and again I'll hit my head getting in.once I get in I have zero issues other than the seat could stand to back another 6-8 inches.
