OK, I was having an overheating issue with my Sport 4.0. I went out and got all new hoses, Flo Kooler water Pump, new Fan Clutch, New 2 core radiator, new Thermostat housing and a new 195 degree thermostat, full trans cleaning and new fluid. It now runs a nice 195 degrees constantly.
However, I have an issue that I just can't resolve.
I was backing out of my driveway and hit a hole that I have there at the pavement, all of a sudden it sounded like my fan was hitting the radiator. I know the sound pretty well from previous expierience. Well I popped the hood and the fan hadn't touched the radiator but that almost exactly what it sounded like. It doesn't do it going down the highway but off road it does it once in awhile, especially in reverse. I can't find anything I screwed up on the installation and the fan is definately not hitting the radiator. It sucks when you fix one issue just to have another crop up. I'm thinkin its something simple but I just can't get ahold of it. Has anyone got any ideas of what I should be looking at or what it might be any help is always appreciated.

Check your motor mounts to see if they are warn out. When you hit a bump it can cause the engine to shift a little causing the fan to hit the fan shroud or anything that is close to the fan.

x2 on the motor mounts. Do you have a stock XJ fan clutch or the ZJ clutch? I couldn't fit the ZJ fan with a 3 row rad.

Make sure there are no cats sleeping on your alternator. Sometimes the little ones like to crawl up in there and if you hit a bump it will knock it loose and get a 34 hit combo in 2 seconds flat from the fan.
