Question Anti-Freeze looks like mud!

Ok so when i bought my jeep the anti-freeze looked rusty and went to drain it and wouldnt come out thats how clogged it was. So i did full system flush untill it seemed to be clear and changed the theromstat and flushed out the reservoir tank. Few months later i checked it and its rusty again with clumps of ***** and my reservoir tank looks like a brown muddy clumpy bubbled mess.

The jeep was a southern jeep and sat alot from 2005 untill now. Could it be that they only used water in the cooling system and the block became rusty? if so, why would it be clumpy? Or did they put stop leak or some kind of head gasket sealent?

the jeep never overheats, didnt lose power, runs great starts right up and only has 96,000 miles i really hope i dont have a cracked head or a blown head gasket. oil looks great no bubbles the oil level doesnt get higher it loses some but thats cause the o-rings are bad for my oil filter adapter.

I need help with this issue. i cant figure it out cause everything is normal. just my anti-freeze looks like poo.

Thanks!

Keep flushing and re-filling with the proper mix of coolant/water and keep closer tabs on the color (check frequently). The sooner u flush and re-fill, the longer it will go before it discolors again. Again, keep close tabs on it and flush well before it gets rusty/clumpy.

It's Stop Leak. You could flush that stuff over and over and it will never completely come out.

Damn, i just bought mine, and its the same problem. I just bought a t-fitting flush thing tonight. Mine isn't clumpy, but very dirty, and has little silver partices. Probably stop leak. I didn't panic, because my oil is clean, and not above normal level. I think since mine came from a southern state, they used water, and never changed it. I drained half of mine out, and put antifreeze in it, and it didn't change it. Mine is still dirty as hell. I can't wait to flsh it tomorrow. And probably in 30 days again.

The previous owner but tons of that in mine. 3 years later there's still some left. I've flushed multiple times when I replaced the thermostat ...and the radiator. Still gunky

It could be stop leak but, neglected cooling systems, in cast iron motors, are notorious for rusty, clumpy, nasty coolant......and usually certain death of the radiator.

PO did the same thing to mine also. Had it flushed professionally and unclogged the heater core myself a year ago. Fluid is nasty again and will need a good flush again very soon.

It's people that are either too stupid, too lazy or too broke to fix it right the first time.

Make sure to check the grounding strap going from the body to the block. My coolant looked the same way (and I assure you it WASN'T stop leak) and I found that my grounding strap was in bad shape. This can allow the coolant to act as an electrolyte and corrode the inside of the engine.
