I was saying that I had mentioned last week about the other two parts under the hood that constantly make a ticking noise, then on another subject I asked you if you could post a video. I didn't mean for it to seem like I had already asked you for a video last week hahaha. I went to try and watch it and it says this video is private

It didn't, and the video should be viewable now. I did set it as unlisted when uploading but ti set it to private. Also my video's time stamp was 8 minute prior to my second post so may have been the louder noise that hasn't come back since.

So the MMO arrived yesterday. It smells like dentists mouthwash, maybe that is the mystery.

I pumped a bit of its oil out the dipstick tube so have a small before MMO sample to compare with the after results.

I'll be sure to post some pictures of the 2 samples once I've clocked 500 miles or so.

Sorry Cruiser... I know that sometimes curiosity kills the cat..but just from a physics standpoint... what is it about MMO that pouring in that extra volume into the motor with the motor oil already at the full level?
Is that also part of the "mystery" of MMO? lol

Cause it's a waste of time trying to drain a quart, and 1 extra isn't gonna make a **** of difference.

If having the crankcase over full bothers anyone, you could always change the oil filter at the same time. Reduces sleepless nights.......Studies have shown.

Was asking as unlike boxburn... my XJ currently with only 107k on the clock doesn't burn, leak or use any oil between changes. Stays steady as a rock
So that's why with mine already a tick or 2 above the full line I asked if the extra volume of a full qt of MMO would hurt anything.
And just to be clear... only reason I was intentionally running a little above the line is because I had that annoying flipping oil pressure sensor unit starting to leak like a sieve.
But didn't want to risk any foaming or anything from way too much volume in the crankcase.

lol.... so does going out into the hills... setting up a few targets and exercising my 2nd amendment rights by liberating a few rounds...
That always releases some tension for me too...

I need to work out where my oils going, need to add a quart litre every couple of months. I've already done the usual o-rings, rocker cover gasket, oil pressure sensor, no emulsification, exhaust smoke. But enough of that, I may create a thread about it if it continues after my oil change and I've cleaned the engine up.

MMO may help there. Frees things up.

Not yet, currently about 100 miles away from it. I shall see later on though.

I did and forgot to post back. It just looked like an oily set of rockers in there, no real look of sludge or slime.

665 miles later I have done my oil change and took a look at my pre and post MMO samples. Visually there was no difference between the 2, both of the same appearance but I imagine if the MMO did clean anything up, it'll be in the old filter.



I did however have the return of the loud tick/clicking noise today the day after my oil change. It did not go away after a 10 second restart but went away after a short drive as it did previously.

My oil change was 5L of 10W-40 SS and 1L Lucas oil additive.

Rather than drive it with the ticking, turn it off, wait 20 seconds, restart. Tick gone?
