Default Another overheating xj

I cant turn off full heat.My xj runs at 225 at 55mph then when i slow to 30-45 down the temps drop to 215. at idle it runs at 210. the e fan is wired to a switch which i always turn on. I just installed a new Flowkool water pump and Robertshaw thermostat (195). When i turn off full heat the temps jump into the red. Usually i then crank the heat and pull over immediately the temperature drops back to 225. I have a full aluminum rad 3 row coming in the mail. I have not flushed the system. I really want to get the temperature to 195 heat off for wheeling this summer. The fan clutch seems to work good.

The rad is the heart of the cooling system......the new one, along with the other new components, will likely solve any overheat issues. Running 195 this summer while wheeling probably ain't going to happen but it shouldn't overheat. Don't guess about a fan clutch, spend $35 for a new one.

Do plenty of research/homework before modding the OE factory rad fan setup. The last thing u want to do is wind up with less CFM air flow than stock. The OE fans r not the weak link in the cooling system.......it's the dinky rad.
