Yes you will need new shocks because your stock shocks will not fit that lift. For the rear the best thing is new spring packs (stay away from aal and blocks). You will have to wait and see if you have vibes but I think at 3" you will be ok and since it is a 91 you will most likely be fine. Happy to help

3" lift needs longer than stock shocks. Will the stock shocks extend that far, yes, but the shocks are going to be working at their extended length, and the valving/volume for pavement driving is going to be all wrong, making for a poor riding/handeling rig. Additionally, the shocks will be prone to top out on rebound, which may well cause the tires to come free of the pav. (airborn)... not a good situation.

Rear, personally, I would look at 2.5" lift springs and add a 1" longer shackel (1/2" lift). This will net 3" lift, and the longer shackel will help with ride quality. I would not do all shackel/block, I would not do add a leafs, before thinking blocks, I would be talking to the leaf manufacturer about such.

X-case drop... yes, maybe, no... Depending on rear axle(8.25/d35), transfer case 231/242) and transmission (auto/manual) and year of all that stuff... some combinations of equipment will require a drop, others will not, and some it will not matter, as the only solution to driveline vibs will be an SYE.

i dont think they sell 3.5" springs, only 3." are you piecing it together or buying a whole kit? i've seen people get around buying new rear shocks by relocating the shock tower to the top of the axle tube, gives you a little more length.

this will also help you to keep the shock mounts from getting beat up too bad on rocks...I should know..mine have taken a beating.
