Alternator/charging issue
Hey guys ive been having an issue with my charging system.the other day I was driving and my check gauges light came on and my voltage gauge went all the way down. But nothing was going wrong except that. Every time I would shut it off and start it back up the gauge would start at 14 then after a minute or so of driving it would happen again. Finally 2 days ago it went for good and I had to jump it and limp it home... ive since went and got the alternator rebuilt and for the first day after that it was fine. Then yesterday I was driving for about the first minute again and the check gauges light came back on and the voltage gauge dropped all the way down again. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong now

Did you have the battery tested? Have you check the grounds and other battery connections? You may have a ECU failing.. The voltage regulator and power distribution is a function of the ECU.

Did you charge the battery? Get it tested? I believe the alt voltage is regulated by the PCM, so you might have an issue with that. I'd put a volt meter on the battery and make sure it's 14+ volts. You should probably clean all the grounds.. especially the battery cables.
Maybe that's the ECU where I said PCM

I do wheel with the jeep do u think the pcm could be failing from getting wet... never tested the battery and the belt is pretty beat up could that have anything to do with it. Could it be a blown fuse or something of that nature

I would definitely check the battery cables and terminals. Same thing happened to me. I checked the cables, seemed good but the terminals were a tad corroded so I disconnected and cleaned cable ends and terminals with steel wool real good and it hasn't happened since. (knock on wood)
