Default all-time part-time?

ok so here is the question, why when i engage 4wd does it say part time? i have never seen my all-time light come on? why is this? is it because of the transfer case that i have? or is there a way to change it over?

also i am kinda new to the whole jeep'in thing

Is there a position on your selector that says full time?? If not, you are prolly just seeing the blank in your dash bezel. Full time is AWD, and part time is 4X4. HTH!!

Yeah, all the wheels are engaged, the difference is whether is center differential is locked or not. Or if you even have that transfer case...

What does your shift selecter say "2HI-4HI-N-4LO"? Or does it have 2hi, 4part time, 4 full time, N, 4LO?

Not just the front axle, but the entire drive train will have undo stress on it if ran on dry pavement in 4X4 for any length of time.

i only use 4wd when i need it. when i was younger like 12-13 i had an izuzu pup 4 in suspension lift on 35's. i only had it in 4wd cause it was a farm truck. it would have lasted alot longer if i was smart and only shifted it into 4wd when it was needed. haha
