If you do a quick alignment in the driveway you can get by but it would be best for tires and safety to get an actual alignment done. As for doing it in the driveway I just tend to look down the side of the tires and have a really long straight steel pole to place on the sides with some helpers. Then just make sure that the front tires are rotated in slightly to get close to the proper toe. I only do this to get me to the shop to get the alignment done though.

If you can, just do it yourself. Most tire shops are not setup or have the know-how to perform an alignment on a lifted XJ.

yup i do it myself.
Best way to get it done right,
grab a block of wood hammer a nail all the way thru it (like a 4" nail)
raise the tire spin the tire and scribe a small line all the way around the tire.
does this on both sides of the tire.
grab a helper and follow the tech article.
All you can adjust on a cherokee is tow in and tow out really. minor caster adjustments but nothing much...
