i was wonderin if anyone had any ideas how to alighn the clutch without the tool i can get ahold of a alighnment tool

ive never had any luck without the tool, mabye a wooden dowl?

I did a bunch by eye before I knew there WAS a tool. Seems like a guy could McGiver something using the shaft as a templet. Or use a different shaft from a junk yard.

a shaft from a junkyard will work, but you should be able to find one at most parts stores

maybe check with a trans repair shop and see if they have a junker tranny you can get the shaft off

I've done a few on other vehicles just by eyeballing and feeling it - with the pressure plate on really loose, was able to move the clutch disc around by hand. Just move it up and down, then side to side, and leave off with it centered halfway between the limits, as you snug up the pressure plate bolts.
