air conditioning Wrangler TJ to XJ
This is my first post ever to any Jeep forum so please be gentle. First off my husband doesn't understand my obsession with Jeeps (It really is a Jeep thing!) but I know you guys understand.
I am sure this is far fetched question but is there a way to take a working air conditioning system from an 02 Wrangler TJ and put it on an 87 XJ. Both have the 4.0 engine. I know there must be huge differences and the systems are different but I was just wondering if there would be a way to make this conversion work.
Thanks

There's always a way to do anything, but the question is is it practical?
You'd have to take the complete HVAC assy from the TJ and adapt it to the XJ. Then use the ac compressor, condenser, drier, and lines on the XJ, unless it already has them and they are good. I'm assuming the XJ was equipped with air already. If not, there are relays and wiring that also need to be added.
I think you get my point. If your XJ has ac it's probably a lot easier/cheaper to just fix your system than to try and transplant the TJs over. JMO though.
And Welcome to CF!

Thank you
I sort of figured it would be a problem both because of the year difference and the model difference. Thanks for answering back!
