Is it possible to wire an aftermarket set of fog lamps into the existing harness from the stock lamps. Just to wire the new ones to the harness off the stock lamps and plug them right in?

If the replacement lights are no more than 55W each you should be fine wiring them into the factory circuit as you described.

so cutting the factory harness off the stock light and wiring it to the aftermarket to plug in should be fine? just want to make sure it does not cause a short or fire.

Thats odd, I ran a pair of 55 watt aftermarket lights off the stock wiring on my '01 without incident. That circuits also on a fuse (10A I think) which should have blown well before any wires got that hot

Maybe I will just do a direct wire then. I did one on my wife's jeep a few years ago. I just wanted to use the same switch already installed for my current fog lamps. I removed the old fog lamps already when I replaced the bumper.

Maybe run a new circuit with a relay and some heavier wiring if you want the piece of mind. If wired correctly theres no reason you can't still use the factory fog lamp switch. Theres a good schematic on the forum here if you search a little.

I dont see any reason why the stock wiring would not work. I just need to which two wires match up to the lamp.

not trying to thread-jack, but I am doing the same thing, have the relay in place, running 55w driving lights because the stock headlights are woefully dim. I have everything in place, and I don't want to run it direct from the battery, but from the fuse box. Only problem I have is I can't find which slot to put it in!
So my question is, which slot in my fuse box do I plug the hot lead from the lights? Kit instructions say to put it in a 12v power supply slot, which I am dumb enough to not be able to find.

I just used the factory switch but ran my own wires no risk of shorts and looks pretty much stock. Just ran them to a switched 12v. Even ran a wire from the switch and a spot on the factory harness so the light comes on. Just an idea.
