i have an auto and was wondering
You still have engine braking with a manual trans.....

I find it easier to control wheel spin with an auto vs manual. Currently I have the '96 XJ Sport with 4.0L auto and a '98 F150 with 4.2L and 5 spd OD manual. My wife has a Ford Five Hundred AWD with CVT.

yeh man...keep on the brakes too it wont hurt goin even slower...just keep as straight as possible goin down steep hills, ive seen lots of jeeps break loose on leaf's or rocks and crash into trees or roll on real steep hills

What would you say to getting into sticky situations? Like crawlin and changing posistions in tight trails?

for the record...my auto has never downshifted, or upshifted, when im on a trail when i didnt want it to...and for sticky situations id say anything that requires real slight throttle-ing or lots of shifting...getting stuck in mud or changing lines in the midst of an obstacle, especially when you want two hands on the wheel

Hey thanks to everybodys replays and from the majority of replays I'm thinking auto but price will determine the ultimate factor. (Stoked)

Haha nice. Price will determine it. What you think about tight situations.
