Default adjusting my door

Hi guys im trying to adjust the catcher for the drivers side door on my 96' cherokee. I have to slam the door so that it shuts properly otherwise it only catches on the safety thing. do I need to remove the door panel to ajust it? I was trying the 3 torx bolts with no luck, Thanks,

Andrew

it might be that your door is sagging, ie from have the doors open while driving type deal or just age, happens to a few jeeps

saggin from hinges?

If it sags, it won't close properly. Go to the pick and pull and get some door shims off another XJ. Loosen up the door hinge bolts and slip one or two under it and it will be fixed.

Im wondering if there is evidence of the brackets that attach to the door to the body have become loose, on the door side of the bracket.. maybe from leaning on the door while it was open.. this would happen over time and is a bad habit for this reason..

find the star key that fits the bolts and lift the door to the "evidence mark" where the bracket was originally mounted, then use the closed end of a wrench as a extension to get them tight again.. can you take/post picks of the brackets?

I made my doors removable and made disconnects for the wires

BTW~ is is generally recommended that the doors not be detached from the brackets to do the optional door conversion because they will never line up right again.. if yours already do not line up, maybe this is your opportunity to upgrade!
