I didnt. I bought mine without extensively trying and later found not working A/C, any heat/cold setting besides window defrost, driverside lock, passenger side window, and fog lights (which worked when I bought it, didnt when I tried them again at home)
Ive fixed lock, power windows, and heat cold settings. My fogs and A/C still dont work.
But hey, I payed relatively cheap for my very clean (NO RUST!!) 00 cherokee

Look for RUST.
I found that water can get into the body through the tail lights, and it has not place to go so it can start to rust there. This rust then migrates into the cargo area and before you know it a little 1" rust hole can turn into a 14" x14" patch on BOTH SIDES.
I discovered the source while doing the repair. I had cut away and cleaned out all the rust and fitted in the new sheet metal. Went back next day to work on it some more and found ICE on the new sheet metal from a pool of water. Happily the water left a trail that was frozen and I was able to trace it up to the tail light opening.
On my 96 that was probably the biggest issue I had.
My mission now it a total search for rust. find it, fix it and be done with it.
One other issue I have on my 96 is the Heater Fan Controller - I think the switch/wiring is faulty. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. High Speed rarely works. When it goes out I tap on the controller and it comes back. I have another controller to put in, but my fear is the harness may be damaged as well. I can fix that myself but it takes a little work.
