Hi everyone, I own a 1996 Jeep Cherokee with power locks and power windows, but no keyless entry, which I would like to add. Now I know that the factory keyless entry system isn’t very good, but I’d prefer to keep everything stock. There’s a 1989 cherokee at the junkyard with the keyless entry system, has the infrared sensor on the roof / headliner and everything. Unfortunately I don’t have the wiring harness that connects to wherever, but that shouldn’t be an issue to grab from the junkyard. The question I’m having is where does the wiring harness connect to? I would assume the plug is under the dash somewhere, since cherokees typically have the plugs for features it didn’t come with from factory. If anyone maybe has diagrams or photos for where the keyless system wires go, I would really appreciate it if you tell me. Thanks!!

the harness is up under the headliner board...who knows whether you have one fitted...

download the '95FSM, and go to the Index for "harness and plug locations"...they are all listed in there, as well as the electrical info and diagram (95 is correct for 96, except engine)

In my opinion, it may be cheaper and better to fit an aftermarket system ( I did this on one of my '96..total cost about $25, works from at least 100ft away)
