AC Temp Difference-How much lower?
Did some work on the AC system. Want to know what a reasonable performance range is.
It blows plenty of cold. Measured as a difference between outside ambient temp and the air discharging from the center vent there is a 25 degree drop. Sometimes up to 30.
I use an electronic scientific grade probe thermometer.
Outside was 106 yesterday driving down the freeway. Figured this is the temp entering the cowel AC intake screen.
Interior discharge air in the center vent measured 78 +/- 2.
On a cooler day, interestingly, the temps are lower of course but the difference is only about 25 degrees.
If I switch to MAX AC (cabin air recirc) the temp drops another 7 or 8 degrees. Maybe more over time. But the air in and air out difference is about the same as running outside air.
So the question is this: Is system operating in normal range?
(I could not find the info searching the forum)
Thanks for the help

Factory specification calls for 50-64 degrees outlet temperature at 110 degrees. (This is for '99 XJ.) So it sounds like it's underperforming a little. You might want to check pressures to get an idea of what's going on inside.
