Default AC Compressor options

right now my ac compressor clutch is sqealing and burning out. i got a few options right now, just not sure what to do.

1) replace compressor clutch. can this be done? how tough is it?
2) replace compressor. the hookups on the back of mine (01) look different from the ones in the JY on older XJs. will they work? would i need one for an 01? those are expensive....
3) remove compressor and throw on idler pulley. Im assuming an easy job, but would would i have to do with the loose pipes and cables?
4) on board air. honestly, i have gathered it works as an air compressor, but beyond that i dont really know anything about it.

www.rockauto.com Replace the compressor, you'll be a lot happier in the Summer. Make sure to have the refridgerant recovered before opening the system, and have the system evacuated to rid it of moisture once you put everything back together.
