Default AC clutch bearing??

I'm new here, and so far have found answers to all of my questions by searching. This one eludes me though. My Cherokee is making a weird noise sometimes. It makes like a 'whoomp' sound, and it seems to be coming from the front of the engine. It only happens while driving, not every time, and usually happens more often when the AC is on. Right now I'm thinking it is the AC clutch bearing. I've only had this thing a few weeks and it has a relatively new looking AC compressor.
Does this sound like it could be that bearing? I got a new bearing today and now need a puller for the clutch before I can change it out.

It's on my 98 with a 4.0.

Thanks!

I replaced mine on a 99. It was making a continuous roaring sound. I used a shop press to remove and install it.

Don't rush in thinking that it's the bearings. It maybe you need to tighten your belt a bit. The best way is to tighten it a little at a time until the noise stops.
