From what I hear if you take the intake off the 99 and put it on the 96 it is a good bolt on.

see what kind of rear axle it has, it might be a chrysler 8.25. ive never tried before, but the 99 you have has a steel tailgate and your 96 has a fiberglass tailgate. The 99 has different/improved intake manifold that is a good upgrade you could do. You can also do some of the the smaller things, like if the seats in the 99 are better, or the radio, or speakers, overhead lining, roof racks, tires, air filter, ect. Depending on how much mechanical skill you have you could do an engine or transmission swap if the 99 has less miles on it.

i wish i could use the intake but it was cracked real bad, i have a 5 speed and the throttle body is smaller then a auto so im goign to start there then the altinator in the 99 is a higher voltage gonna switch that, just not sure if the injectors are better or somthing along the lines of that. also the 99 has power lockas and windows so i would liek to switch that, i would just switch doors but 99 is blue and 96 is green so i was also wondering is the the guts would be interchangable, so far it looks good besides a few holes so be drilled for screws but ill let people know other things i end up swiching. ill deff keep it posted.

watch switching body panels, doors, ect, because in 97 jeep upgraded the entire cosmetic look of the cherokee and it might look a little funny with two different styles.

Default Fiberglass to Metal tailgate

Is it possible to swap out the fiberglass tailgate from my 89 cherokee to the newer metal ones that started in 1997 ??
