i have a 99 jeep cherokee automatic transmission that when i put it in D it is very sluggish on takeoff trying to shift to 3rd and i really have to give it the gas,so i have started shifting it manually from 1st and all is well when i shift manually.
What is keeping if from shifting automatically?

im gonna say you have a Bad Solenoid not allowing it to shift correctly....You can OHMS test them yourself Easy.

Do you have a power/comfort switch, if you do and the light does not come on, check the TCU fuse in the fuse box, if it is blown check your backup lights, my factory trailer tow harness was shorting on the frame.
